Kayak for a Cause on Walloon LakeTwenty-two kayakers participated in the 4th Annual Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake event on July 21st and 22nd, 2012 raising much needed scholarship dollars for students to participate in programs at the Camp Daggett Adventure Center (CDAC). The annual event continues to grow each year since Karen Marietti, Director of CDAC, made the two day paddle solo four years ago.
15 kayakers paddled the entire 30 miles of Walloon Lake shoreline while 7 kayakers completed their journey after 15 miles. "My husband and I had a blast kayaking. We met such wonderful people and the lake was amazing, despite the headwinds. We can't wait until next year", said Robin Ruzicska and Dan Gabbert from Harrison Township.
The team was supported by pledges, sponsors and the 40 Walloon Lake residents who purchased and displayed the Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake dock flags, helping to raise over $7,000.
